For a country club, the course wasn't in the shape one would expect but you couldn't beat the rate which included lunch. Greens needed repairing and fairway were not in best conditions either.
Great day to golf
The course was in great shape but unfortunately I'm sorry to see that the sand traps were not maintained but it was still a great experience always love playing Masonboro!!!
Fun course Challenging
It is a nice course but not for the faint of heart. Course needs some work and suggest you play winter rules as many areas should be marked as ground under repair(needing repair) bunkers are not being maintained . Greens are good and it will challenge you if you don't stay in the fairways.
Fairways not the best sand bunkers horrible greens were in good shape
Course is in terrible shape
Owner is selling the course so he doesn't care about the upkeep. It is in very bad shape.
great putting surfaces
lot of rain in the area past few weeks but did not rain on us this morning. fairways were saturated in low lying areas. This course has a good lay out with many picturesque holes.
Great layout
I enjoy playing here, there are several sets of tees so you can play to your skill level. Greens are fast, fairways and tee boxes are in fair shape.
Masonboro Gof
I have played this course for year. I was very impressed with the redesign that was completed a few years ago and played it several times then. The course today was a little disheveled, weeds in some of the waste areas and rough bordering the fairways. The clubhouse if you can call it that is a disappointment. All that said, the value is amazing. I will definitely be back to take advantage of the great rates!
Fun Round!
Very nice course with greens in immaculate condition. In town on vacation and the course was very welcoming and glad to have me play a round. I recommend this place if you're in town for a beach week and want to sneak in a round.
very good outing
Enjoyed playing the coarse . it was very hot but no rain. staff was nice and the people playing were very friendly. I have been recommending this coarse and have been back with them.
tough but fair
course is in good shape. Greens roll great. Good lay out. Quite a few picturesque holes.
Good course gone bad
in the last week
After playing Masonboro CC many times over the years I was extremely disappointed in the conditions the last time I played. Many of the greens had dead spots, fairways with little grass to hit off and bunkers with more grass than sand. They didn't even pretend to seem to care about the course and looks like they have given up on it. When Masonboro was bought by a new owner he put a ton of money into it and made it one of the best in the area. Doesn't look like he has any interest in keeping it that way.
Challenging
This course is somewhat challenging...if your a 20 plus handicapper take lots of balls ... it's not unfair but it will not reward slices and hooks overall a great test of your golf ability...it's a fun course
Bad Condition
It appears that the course is in financial trouble. The pro shop had no merchandise and appeared to be closed. The course was in very poor condition, fairways were burnt out in spots and appears like it hadn't been watered in days or weeks. This will be my last trip there, but it's probably going to close anyway.
Masonboro GC
Got a hot deal - course conditions were a bit rough -bare patched hard Green's - bare patches in fairway - great layout
Disappointing
Course continues to deteriorate. Poor condition of most fairways and all bunkers. Only a few greens without bad spots. Pro shop closed. Would not recommend. It is a shame because the overall layout is quite good.
Wish I had played somewhere else
Don't play there. I would recommend Cape Fear National or Echo Farms
Tee Boxes were terrible (Dirt/Sand). Fairways had little grass mostly Dirt/Sand. Greens had a few OK spots but were mostly bad. Bunkers had grass growing in some and were inconsistent. One person running pro shop and Grill/Snack Bar? Used to be a great course!! What happened?
What has happened?
The condition of the course is awful. The golf holes haven't been changed in days as many holes are ragged with no clear cuts.
The fairways have little grass and are dust bowls in places.
The bunkers have little sand and are unkempt and rough around the edges.
Many of the senior tees have no grass. Teeing up in dirt.
The pro shop is closed and has no merchandise.
This was a big disappointment as the course has been such good condition the many times I've played over the last 4 years.
It will be a shane to lose this challenging course as Echi Farms is also close to closing
Thank you u777440601for the four star rating! Come back and hit the greens at Masonboro again soon.
Went to course after being told over the phone I could play for $25 with lunch the next day. Got there and the check in side was locked and they have a guy at the snack bar handling check in. He said its $29 take it or leave it.
We left and will never go back. Course will be plowed under. It was better before they changed it anyway.
