Nice course layout. Greens were well maintained.
Very nice course, with a nice layout with a few of
challenging holes. Greens were well maintained. I would recommend you give this course a try.
Make sure to bring plenty of balls
Overall I enjoyed this course. It is definetly a placement course with many waste areas where it is next to impossible to find your ball. Many lies above and below your which makes your approach shot that much more challenging.
Tough Course - beautifully maintained fairways and greens
Front 9 are very tough. Narrow focused fairways, undulating greens, long carries from the tee box to the fairways. Back nine are more forgiving. Overall the course plays very well - I'll be back!
If you enjoy shotmaking, you will love this course.
This was my 2nd round at The Carolina Club and I intend to make it a must play when I stopover in Pinehurst on my way to the beach.
At 71 years and somewhat handicapped with arthritis and Parkinson's disease, I'm a strong advocate of teeing it forward.
I played from the green tees which made it possible for me to enjoy all of the features that Arnold and his team built into the design. Managed to break 100 (97) even with all those maddening 3 putt greens. The Carolina lived up to its billing and was a lot of fun to play.
Great
No houses around course!conditions great holes have great variety
Need yardage markers
Steal for the money
Just played a quick 18 for my second round on The Carolina.
I'm a member at Pinehurst, but like to play different courses from time to time.
I came away after the first round last year remembering that I liked the greens. Smooth and med-fast.
Almost a year later, I can still say the same. The greens are really nice. But on this second round I noticed the design of the course more. I have not been a big fan of Arnold Palmer designs in the past, some can be a bit difficult. But from the correct tee box, (I think there were 5) The Carolina plays very fair.
There are a couple of marsh areas in front several greens (forced to carry) but even my wife was a big fan.
Check golf now for a great price on this course. Its a super deal, with really no disapointments.
Great test of golf for all levels of golfers
Played as foursome (husbands & wives). All felt that it was one of the most scenic courses they had played. Greens were in superb shape, fairways lush. Rewarded good shots and not too much "punishment" for poor shots.
Great golf course. Excellent design. challenging. bunkers need attention.
great course. excellent value for money. laid out great into the surronding areas. greens in excellent condition. fairways and tees pristine condition. Bunkers require some maintenance and tidy up. course plays very challenging from championship tees. would recommend anyone to play this course. staff are very helpfull and freindly. A real gem of a course
excellent layout but they need some help
"This course could be so Awsome.". That's the comment that came from every member of our group. The layout is spectacular but is let down by weeds and poor conditions. It's pretty obvious to a graduate of turfgrass management and fellow golf super that its money or someone doesn't care about the course conditions. I'm betting on the first one. The fairways are great, the greens ok, but everything else was horrible. The rough was 90% nutsedge, bahia grass, and crabgrass and it you missed the fairway (even by mere inches) you were lucky if you could find the ball. The bunkers hadn't been raked in weeks and even had 3 and 4 foot tall weeds growing in them. Won't be going back until I hear its gotten better.
Large well guarded greens, lush fairways and blind shots will bring you back again.
The good news is that you are on the green. The bad news is that you are on the green! They are large, undulating, and true. We always play The Carolina when we play in the Sandhills. The fairways are generous but you must be able to carry the wastelands.
Worth the trip
Demanding driving holes. Elevation changes and undulating greens. Not impressive from the parking lot but a good course.
Great cource, great staff good for the Money
Once you get over the Clubhouse (trailer) its a very nice course and challenging. Played twice in March 2012 and the course was in pretty good shape and plan on making a stop there this March.
Best kept secret in Pinehurst area
My buddies and I have been coming to the Pinehurst area since 1999, and we've played most of the courses in the area. Obviously with a billion courses in the region, you can't play them all every time you visit, but one course we always we make sure we play every year is The Carolina. Yeah, it has a dirt parking lot and a trailer for a clubhouse, so what? If you care about that, go to the Pinhurst Resort. What it DOES have is a world class golf course at a reasonable price. Fairways and greens are always in great shape, and although very challenging, it is also very fair. A perfect balance of great golf. If you are a regular middle-class guy and price is a concern, but you do love a great golf course, this is the ticket!
