Good Value for the Money
Played on a Saturday Morning- Hardly anyone was there. Played as twosome- Started on the Tenth. Course is in decent shape- Greens were good and true. I have always liked this course. Not sure how much play it is getting these days. It was almost empty on a Saturday AM- it was a Holiday weekend if that makes any difference..Worth $35.00 to play..
GREAT COURSE! I really loved the first par 5 (over the lake and down the hill). Course was clean and very well maintained and staff was excellent.
Very quiet
I played this course about 20 years ago and loved the layout. This time it seemed empty and abandoned, but still in reasonably good shape. You could tell that something was wrong because the lack of golfers and staff. I hope they can come back and attract more people because it's a nice course on a great piece of land.
I have been playing LRFarms since 1999 and is a favorite...much more player- friendly now and pace of play was good for a Sunday Morning.
Prepare to get the cold shoulder from staff
Decent course layout and good greens. But staff is generally unfriendly and not suited for the hospitality industry. Pro Shop staff was not friendly at all, nor was the staff working the food / beverage area. Prepared to be gouged $5 for a bag of about 15-20 range balls. Pace of play was abysmal with no ranger on the course. Most of the groups ended up playing the back nine twice. Unacceptable for a Friday.
Good conditions on a fun course
This was my first time playing Little River and even though I barely broke 100, it was a really fun course. It was in very good shape. Not a whole lot of merchandise in the pro shop and a sleeve of balls cost $10. They do have a grill, but we didn't eat. Overall I thought it was a great place to play for the golf now price of $15.
1st time last time
I had stayed here in the past, though had never played here. I see no reason to play here again. Course conditions were poor,at best. No starter, ranger, beverage cart, and poor course markings. Course was not overly difficult, just had a few really poorly designed gimmicky holes. I thought I would give the place a try. I did. Next visit I will go back to my usuals; Southern Pines, Legacy, etc., etc.
Great value, nice course, bring your own food
Every year, we play one expensive, one mid-priced and one lower-priced course. Little River was our low-priced course this year and we were very happy with it. The course is in great condition. The fairways are beautiful. The greens were slow, but were true once you get used to it. This course was on par with others that are in the $100 range.
Only complaint was food at the turn. We thought we were grabbing a quick hot dog at the turn, but that turned into a 15 minute ordeal. Nice people, but no sense of urgency to get golfers back onto the course
Great Value
The new management at Little River has really got this course in great shape. There are many fun, unique, challenging holes. Plenty of water to keep things interesting. The back nine played easier than the front nine, but it was all fun. The staff were laid back and friendly. The club has a very impressive venue with a cool bar. The rates are very affordable. Take it from a local -- this course is worth checking out.
Course in good condition
Course was in decent shape. Need to have yardage markers more available. Most sprinkler heads I found were not marked. Staff were great friendly and helpful!
Good layout, great pace of play
I think we were almost the only ones on the course, so pace of play was great. The course is obviously suffering from the overbuilding in the Pinehurst area, so prices are great, but you can tell they don't have enough traffic to justify spending more on maintenance. The course has an interesting layout with good variety in the holes. Conditions were quite good. It could easily be one of the better courses in the area with a bit more spending on the greens, bunkers etc.
A Great Layout and Fun Course
The greens had been recently aerated and were a little rough, but this is a Dan Maples layout well worth visiting. There are a few tough holes, some fun holes, and overall a good experience, with friendly staff, and a great restaurant. Also, a local winery across the street with tastings made for the perfect day.
course layout good
Greens had been aerated on were poor to putt on and had repaired areas. Front desk did not disclose any of this to the players prior to going out on course.
Needs a Marshall on the Course
We knew the greens were recently punched so no problem. Pace of play was terrible. No Marshall on the course. The group in front of us was holding up 3 groups. Staff was very friendly. Course layout was nice.
