dump
this place use to be nice then went downhill fast once it was sold a few years back.
they have lost most of the members. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone.
Nice course. Good value..
At Atlantic beach on vacation.. Was a little leery because of reviews.. Took a shot staff was nice course was in good shape. Brought my nephew and had a great time.. Worth the trip especially for the price! Will visit one more time before I head back to Florida..
Good flow to the course
We are used to working class courses and this fit pretty good. Excellent price for the round. some interesting holes, but the homes abut to course on quite a few making narrow shots a must. Some greens need work.
Absolute Goat Trail!
Carolina Pines is an absolute dump! The Clubhouse is stuck in the 1970's. The course lay out is bazaar. The Cart paths are more like mountain roads. There is no distinguishing the rough from the fairways. the greens are like hitting into a well aorn parking lot with large asphalt patches in it. I had heard that Carolina Pines was a 'Goat Trail' and the only reason I played it was because I had a gift certificate. I will not play it again until somebody buys it a make MAJOR improvements. The individual holes could be very challenging and this could be a great course if managed correctly.
Absolutely horrific course and conditions!
Mark Twain called golf "a good walk spoiled", he must have been at Carolina Pines! The fairways and rough were practically indistinguishable. The greens had large dead areas and patches of fairway grass planted in them. The cart paths were broken up and unpassable in many areas. I have golfed around the world, even in the jungles of the Phillipines, Carolina Pines is the worst course I have ever played! And the Mosquitos.........my god the mosquitos!!!!!!
Not so good!
My wife and I played this course...first the cart we had barely ran. it made a noise and jerked us every time we took off..
Some greens had replacement sod on them, some had bare spots.all were pretty rough..cart paths were rough gravel in places...the rough outside the fairways was 3inches deep or better..best thing about this round was meeting John and Ellie..nice couple that live in the area...won't play this course again....
Love playing this course!
The greens are in great shape and trickier than they look. The staff is very friendly and while I was there they had a beginner sign up for what appeared to be an excellent Beginner Golf Academy. You really do feel that you have gotten away from it all when you play the back 9 as it backs up to a wilderness area. This is a new course and I can't wait to play it as it matures into an even better golfing experience.
This used to be my Grandfather's farm. It was called Magnolia Farm & used to be Magnolia Plantation. Yankees came ashore by the river cliff during the Civil War.
When he experienced 3 years of drought on the farm, he had to sell. I remember all the changes, I was 10 years old. He became part owner in the golf course & was there until his death.
My Dad Mom, me, & 2 Siblings lived there also. My Dad was an awesome head greens keeper for many years & I worked for him . We lived there until 1985.
It was a great place, both before & after the changes. But I do miss the farm!!!
