Adios Crooked Creek.
Never going to play this course again.
Of course the course will be closed forever on July 5, so it won't be available for play.
Hate to see it go.
I always have fun playing Crooked Creek and hate that it is closing in less than a month. If you haven't played it in a while make sure you get one last go at it!
Great course, awesome layout, too bad it's closing
Crooked Creek has some of the most beautiful holes (3, 4, 8, 9, 12, 13, 14, 15) around and it offers a very good challenge from the tips. It's closing July 5, 2015, so get out there while you still can, and play one of the best layouts in Wake county.
Course closes in July permanently
This course has been neglected as it is due to close permanently in July. Some of the fairways are completely burnt up, almost down to just dirt in some areas. Greens have been punched in the past and still aren't back to a smoothe surface. Overall this course is due to close and has been treated has such, would recommend taking ur golf game somewhere else
Great course at a great price
Everything about this course makes me want to come back. Great design, great condition and a great staff. Difficulty is perfect for an above average golfer.
Shame it is closing
Live locally, played here about 50 times. Excellent course for target golf. Short and tight in spots, you have to control your ball to keep it in play. Maintenance has become awful since it is closing 7/5/15. Large areas of bare ground on several fairways. Not just front 9 closing, the entire course is. This was a great Golfnow course, with a couple of open tee times for a ridiculously low price nearly every afternoon. I am supremely bummed I won't have Crooked Creek to play for a quick 18 in the future. Despite conditions, I plan to play there several more times prior to the shut down.
What I Expected
i am new to area and found this course online. after hearing that the course was closing in a couple of months i didnt expect miracles. it was in decent shape but i guess no one cares about the course. ball marks werent being fixed and the greens were really small. but considering it being gone in july it was in ok shape.
Good course
Early in year, bermuda dormant.
Greens varied in speed.
Felt good to be hitting balls again after long winter.
tough greens are the best features
This course is being maintained well enough to attract
business for another three months.
Course is closing on July 5, 2015, not profitable, developer plans to build homes on this site.
Awesome course
This course will be amazing when the grass starts to grow again. The course offers challenging holes and great views. The greens were in great condition. I cannot wait to go back and play this course again.
Starting to feel like they're not maintaining it
I've played here many times in the past and it seems like it has really not come out of winter well. With so many other courses around with newer greens or at least better maintained greens, seeing the patchy weeds and spotty grass on many of theirs was disappointing, especially for the price. I know it is being sold this summer, but I guess I expected more. This was likely my last round here assuming it sells as planned.
I'm going to miss this place!
I was able to play one of my favorite courses once again. I love this course and hope to play at least a couple of more times before the bulldozers arrive.
Crooked Creek December 17
we got rained out Tues. and went back Wed. Course in very good winter condition. 1/2 of course is being sold off for more houses, a real shame, because this is a nice facility. Will still be 18 holes through 2015,.
You need your "A" game for back nine!
Crooked Creek
Excellent price for this caliber of course. In very good condition for this time the year.
Caddis
Played with an off duty ranger who scooped me on the course. Course was in nice shape considering the dormant season of December. I would like to try it agin when it is lush and green. Staff was very cordial and welcoming.
Greens not very good at all
Course is closing 9 holes in 2015. They are not taking care of the course in my opinion. Will not waste my time or money anymore
Better Play Soon! Conditions are declining.
As others have written I have played the course many times in the past decade. Big changes are on the way as the front nine is scheduled to close next summer I believe. That's the nine I like best but it seems houses will be taking away my favorite nine eventually. Greens keepers are not putting much effort into maintenance on the front. I would recommend you play here sooner rather than later as I am sure it will only get worse. I think they are still planning to maintain a 9 hole course but information on that topic is spotty.
Writing is on the wall
Did not know it until I got there but it was pretty obvious when I got on the course that they have stopped caring about the front nine of this course the greens are in bad shape and would not go back again
conditions going downhill
Played the course many, many times. Love the course. Since the front 9 is on track to be sold, it appears that they are not putting much effort / money in to keeping up the greens or fairways. I would recommend you play here sooner rather than later as I fear it will only get worse.
Decent course, not far from the city
The course has quite a contrasting and more challenging back 9, especially the par 4 18th which requires precise placements to have any chance of par. Some memorable holes like the par 12th and the par 4 (don't remember the number) hole where you drive into a valley.
The greens need quite a bit of work but rolled good enough.
